Electron Microscopy

The Electron Microscopy (EM) Facility, as part of the Centre for Cellular Imaging, provides advanced EM expertise from sample preparation to image analysis, for a large variety of biological specimens ranging from macromolecules to cells and tissues. The services we provide include sample preparation for the users, assistance in their use of facility resources as well as advanced teaching and training.

The facility offers a large spectrum of electron microscopy techniques (TEM and SEM) with a major focus on sample preparation, immuno-localisation of proteins, Tokuyasu, ultrastructural analysis in 2D and 3D (tomography and serial TEM), high pressure freezing, freeze-substitution, negative-staining, correlative light and electron microscopy and data processing and analysis. The Staff can advise you to establish the optimal experimental conditions for your project – we have experience spanning virtually the full spectrum of biological specimens, with high-level resources for both advanced research and training.

If you are interested in using the Electron Microscopy CCI Facility, please contact the EM Staff.

We are opening a cryo-screening facility this summer!
