3 days qPCR course

In this introductory course the participants will get a theoretical understanding and a practical feeling on how to do qPCR experiments by themselves in their own lab. The course contains:

Day 1:

PCR and real-time PCR theory
Applications of qPCR
Currently available detection technologies
Primer design and the problem of primer-dimer formation Probe design
Experimental design and optimization

Day 2:

Introduction to quantification principles
Calculations using different relative quantification methods
Strategies for normalization of qPCR data
Absolute quantification methods
MIQE guidelines

Day 3:

Basic data analysis
Extraction of RNA and DNA
Principles of Reverse Transcription
Priming methods for Reverse Transcription
Bring your own questions
